Concert in St. John Smith's Square, London
We will be performing in the renowned venue of St. John Smith's Square in Westminster on Saturday 19th November 2011 at 6.30pm featuring an exciting programme of film music from Star Wars, ET, Hook, the Bridge on the River Kwai, as well as Dvorak's all time classic: the New World Symphony.
This is a fantastic event for everyone and a great way to spend Saturday evening with family and friends!

End-of-term Philharmonia Concert-going Social
We have been able to secure an exclusive UWSO £8 ticket deal with the Warwick Arts Centre for the upcoming Philharmonia concert with the legendary Vladimir Ashkenazy conducting. The concert is on Wednesday 7th December (Week 10) at 8pm in the Butterworth Hall and the programme is as follows:
Berlioz – Overture, Béatrice et Bénédict Beethoven – Violin Concerto Interval Berlioz – Symphonie Fantastique
This is our first concert-going social of the year and we strongly recommend you all attend! These have been historically very well attended and once we even saw Shostakovich's son conducting his own father's work with the Royal Philharmonic!
We'll be having sign-up sheets from 25th October, although if you REALLY can't wait you can always drop us an email at exec@uwso.co.uk. Welcome everyone!
Our first rehearsal of the year will be on Tuesday 4th October in the Butterworth Hall. Everyone is welcome! We will begin at 7pm and finish at around 9.30 and we will be rehearsing for the free concert on 11th October, performing with Wind Orchestra and BrassSoc. The pieces that we will be playing are:
- Malcolm Arnold - March from 'The Bridge on the River Kwai'
- John Williams - 'Flight to Neverland' from 'Hook'
- John Williams - Star Wars
The exec will be wearing bright-red exec t-shirts and we will be very glad to help if you need anything :)

Monte Carlo
Congratulations to the selected few going to Monte Carlo at the end of this term! There will be rehearsals and recordings sometime between Wed 16th - Sat 19th March (tbc).
