The Exec
Vincent Cheung: President
Hi I'm Vincent, and like many others in the orchestra, I do maths and play the violin. Although I'm president of the society, I used to be one of the librarians and therefore know the photocopier in the music office inside out. Classical music is also a big thing for me, so if you recognise a piece and don't know what it's called, do ask me and I can probably name it!
Treasurer
Hi I'm Jon, I'm a second year economics student and also treasurer for UWSO. I play cello in the orchestra and have also had a go at the trumpet in the past. Outside of orchestra I also like film, pool and football.
Rupert Swarbrick: Secretary
I'm a second year maths postgrad, but was here for my undergraduate degree too. I play the violin, and can generally be found looking excitable and carrying a cup of coffee. As well as secretary, I'm currently the "official webmaster", so let me know when you find a mistake in the website!
Mary Horder: Concert and Marketing Manager
Hey I’m Mary and I play the oboe in the orchestra. I also play the double bass, and I’m in my second year studying maths. One of my jobs will be writing programme notes for each concert so let me know if you have any ideas that you’d like me to include.
Fiona Brown: Librarian
Hello! I'm Fiona, and I am one of your two librarians this year. I play violin in UWSO, but outside the orchestra I also play piano, like to sing, and attempted to play double bass for a little while about a decade ago. When I'm not playing in the orchestra or honing my photocopying technique, I study English and Latin.
Hannah Martin: Chamber Orchestra Representative
Hey, I'm Hannah and (like quite a lot of the Orchestra) I'm studying Maths. I play violin and especially love string quartet music. As well as music, I like traveling, pub gardens and just generally spending lots of time with friends. Looking forward to another year of music making!
Matthew Taylor: Librarian
Hi, my name is Matt and I'm a second year chemistry student. I play the violin and I'm one of the librarians for UWSO this year. As well as being in the symphony orchestra and the university's string orchestra I also enjoy running.
Jeremy Judge: Social Secretary
Boo! I am Jeremy, although some people call me Moose. I do maths for fun (and for my degree), play the french horn and piano, and like doing silly things from time to time. Hopefully the orchestra will turn into a big happy family because of all the lovely socials I will organise over the next year.
